Central Texas Underinsured Driver Lawyers
Even though the law requires drivers to carry auto insurance, there are a large number of drivers who do not. Either they never had insurance to begin with, or they had it but allowed it to expire. Other drivers have insurance, but not enough to cover the cost of medical care and other expenses for a person whom they injure in an accident.
At Allison & Ward, we search out every possible source of compensation for auto accident victims, including compensation under your own uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Even though you have faithfully paid premiums, your insurer may try to avoid paying you the benefits you deserve. We know how to deal with insurers and we will strongly advocate for your best interests. We want you to get better, and we do our best to give you the resources to do so.

Understanding UM/UIM Insurance
In Texas, uninsured motorist and underinsured motorist coverage are not automatic; it is optional coverage that requires an additional premium. However, the coverage is usually very affordable, especially considering that it may be your only source of compensation. If you are injured by a person who has no insurance, or does not have enough to pay your claim, your UM/UIM coverage may pay your expenses up to your policy limit. UM coverage also provides compensation if you are the victim of a hit-and-run.
Stacking UM/UIM Insurance
Texas law allows you to "stack" your UM/UIM coverage. This is a creative way to increase the amount of your insurance coverage. Stacking allows you to collect the UM/UIM coverage limits for each vehicle covered by your policy.
For example, assume you own three vehicles and you have $100,000 of UM/UIM coverage for each vehicle. When you get in an accident while driving one of those cars, you can seek compensation under the UM/UIM coverage for all three cars, so in this example, up to $300,000.
The policy provisions for uninsured / underinsured motorist coverage are complex. Getting the compensation you deserve almost always requires the services of an experienced personal injury attorney.
